Why Hire Me?
If you are like many of my clients, I will be the first attorney you have ever spoken to, much less hired. Whether it is a federal trademark you need for your new business, a copyright for your jewelry or t-shirt design, an estate plan for your family, representation in an uncontested divorce or a dispute with a home improvement contractor, my goals are always the same:
- be sensitive and responsive to your needs
- treat you with respect
- explain often complex legal issues in language you can easily understand, and
- give your matter the personalized attention it deserves at a fair price.
I pride myself on being an attentive and responsive advocate for my clients, including members of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQ+) community.
Ask my clients and they will tell you that I am an attorney who is easy to talk to and that they actually enjoy working with.
About Me
Wide Ranging Expertise
After working for a large multinational corporation and a number of prominent national and regional law firms, I moved to Cape Cod in 2003 and hung out my proverbial shingle. Since then, I have helped clients on a wide range of matters, including obtaining hundreds of federal trademark and copyright registrations for their small businesses, setting up their estate plans, assisting them in uncontested divorces, providing general business advice, helping them sell their businesses, and representing them in a variety of legal disputes (small claims, construction contractor disputes, etc.).
Personalized, No-Frills Approach
I offer clients a no-frills, personalized approach to solving their legal problems by keeping my overhead low (I practice from my home) and handling my own administrative tasks. I economize without compromise, truly believing that clients can receive quality legal services at a competitive hourly rate.
Refreshingly Honest and Pragmatic
If a matter requires expertise I don't have, I will let you know and try to refer you to a lawyer who does. (My motto has always been, "I know what I know. I know what I don't know. And I know the difference.")
If I think a matter will cost more in terms of legal fees than it is worth on a risk/reward basis, I won't hesitate to tell you.

WHAT MY CLIENTS SAY
Thorough and Responsive
"Lindsey recently assisted our family-owned retail business with trademark issues. She was referred to us by our local chamber of commerce and we are so glad to have her expertise and experience guiding us.
She is extremely thorough, very responsive and advised on all the legal issues involving a trademark. We had met with others re: our trademark and chose The Law Office of Lindsey Straus to represent us, and we definitely made the right decision. Highly recommend!"
– Pam S.
Had My Best Interests In Mind
"I originally hired Lindsey to help me register my supplemental trademark as a principal trademark. Shortly after that time I experienced a trademark infringement and hired Lindsey to represent me, She informed me of all my options and possible outcomes. I never felt like I was alone and always knew she had my best interest in mind. She really cared and it showed!
If you are looking for a Trademark Attorney that cares more about your satisfaction than racking up billable hours than consider Lindsey. I would definitely hire her again!"

Compassionate Estate Planner
"Lindsey prepared trusts, last will and testaments, powers of attorney, trustees certificates, and health care proxies for my wife and me. She was extremely expedient but thorough and prepared all these documents for a third of the price of a Hyannis lawyer who had quoted the job. Her handling of our personal preferences for last rites was particularly compassionate."
